"Unlocking the Future of Rice Protein: Joint Ventures Between GABIO Co., Ltd. and COFCO NHRI"

   On July 26, 2025, GABIO Co., Ltd. held a meeting with COFCO NHRI. During the meeting, both parties conducted in-depth discussions on topics such as enterprise development overview, industrialization ideas, prospects for rice protein product cooperation, and university cooperation models, laying a solid foundation for subsequent cooperation.​

    As the core R&D institute of COFCO , NHRI ( COFCO Nutrition and Health Research Institute ) has been deeply engaged in the field of grain, oil and food science and technology. It provides technical support for industrial development through basic research and application innovation, and continues to tackle key problems in core areas such as grain and oil processing, food nutrition and safety. Based on the exploration of cutting-edge technologies in grain deep processing and the innovation of functional food development, it has achieved a number of results with both academic and industrial value. With advanced equipment and a team of top experts, it undertakes national-level projects and formulates industry standards, leading the technological and industrial development of the grain, oil and food industry.​

    In this negotiation, the collaborative development of the rice protein industry became the core focus of both parties. COFCO Research Institute and our company proposed to carry out in-depth cooperation around two major directions: product application compounding and differentiation improvement, focusing on exploring the unique advantages of rice protein compared with soy protein and pea protein. The meeting further clarified the product entry point — focusing on efficacy enhancement, nutrition upgrading and flavor innovation, while accurately targeting the consumer groups, laying a solid foundation for cooperation.​

   From a technical perspective, poor solubility and poor taste are regarded as two "persistent problems" in the rice protein industry. Both parties put forward new R&D paths: solubility can be optimized through enzymatic hydrolysis technology, while nutrition, solubility and taste can be skillfully balanced. It is worth mentioning that NHRI's mature experience in plant protein peptide debittering technology and bitterness masking agents will provide strong support for overcoming technical difficulties!​

   At the same time, GABIO Co., Ltd.  will also give full play to its profound technical accumulation in the field of rice protein, form resource complementarity with NHRI, and achieve a synergistic effect of 1 + 1 > 2!​
